Course outline

This two year course looks at a variety of different aspects of law as well as looking at why laws exist. There is a focus on criminal law and the elements of a crime.

You will be encouraged to critically analyse the law in a variety of contexts. You will also consider civil liability and the disputes between two parties; you will look in depth for any negligence to aid with the process.

As you progress through the course, you will look at the most serious crimes and examine possible defences for such crimes including insanity or self-defence.

You will have the opportunity to look at the philosophy of the law and how it has come into being. At each stage you are asked to critically analyse key case studies in order to gain a better understanding of the law and its applications.

You will have the opportunity to visit a court room in action and then apply your learning to mock trials within lessons.
