A in GCSE maths.
Further Maths takes the maths studied at A Level into more detail and allows students who want to take maths further to gain a strong grounding.
There is an equal focus on the core and applied aspects with three modules in each.
Students must study FP1 and FP2, but there is some flexibility in what they study in addition. The choices include statistics and mechanics, decision maths which focuses on algorithms as well as looking at game theory.
Students who enjoy computer programming would gain significantly from taking a course in decision maths.
